Expert advisory in e-commerce

E-commerce has fundamentally transformed retail and continues to evolve. What hasn’t changed is that e-commerce is complex and very difficult to get right. Being successful in what is by now a maturing business can be a challenge, even for businesses that have decades of experience and a great track record in offline retail. 

Knowing what works and combining it with the strengths of each successful business is the key to unlocking e-commerce value. I bring my experience starting, growing and supporting businesses in different stages of their lifecycle to each project to enable companies to build on their strengths.

Implementation and execution support

Getting the execution right is just as important as choosing the best strategy. Especially in heavily contested industries, execution quality will be the difference between success and failure. Strategy execution often needs to go hand in hand with wider business transformations such as changes in decision making processes or skills development for existing teams.

An outside-in analysis of the company's position and capabilities is generally the starting point of my execution support. The resulting gap analysis will be translated into key initiatives that fit the company’s unique requirements. For longer term support, I generally work closely with departments such as HR and IT to make sure the initiatives are firmly rooted in the corporate structure and lead to long-term change.

Corporate and digital strategy

Corporate and digital strategy are closely interlinked today, it is impossible to get one right without the other. The base is an option portfolio based on an analysis of the client’s position in the market. My focus is on long-term value generation instead of the newest trends. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to digital and I work closely with my clients to find the strategy that not only fits their business, but also their culture and values.

Strategy development needs to be driven from the inside to generate the necessary buy-in for a successful implementation. My role is as a guide to the management team throughout the process, utilizing their understanding of business and market and augmenting it with my experience to develop a unique strategy.
